Description
Stand Up For Platypus was sign carried before this sculpture during Taronga Zoo 100th birthday parade in Sydney.
Taronga Western Plains Zoo’s Project Platypus is a community conservation education project aimed at supporting Platypus populations that live in NSW’s Western region.
The oldest known platypus fossil dates to 110 million years ago. Until fairly recently there were up to five species in the Ornithorhynchus genus. The platypus is now the lone survivor in its genus.
