Description
Blackbuck female and fawns are protected species, they don't have horns like the male and they are light in colour. This pic was taken at Dubbo Zoo.
The blackbuck is an ungulate species of antelope native to the Indian subcontinent that has been classified as near threatened by IUCN since 2003, as its range has decreased sharply during the 20th century mainly due to poaching. So many animals we are about to loose due to poaching, I really think more needs to be done. Only males have horns that are diverging, cylindrical, spiral, and ringed throughout, also the older they get the darker they get.
