Description
The Magnificent Tree Frog (also called splendid tree frog) ranges from dark olive to bright green on its back, with scattered yellow or white blotches. The inside of legs is bright orange-yellow. The underside is white and granular. Large toe pads.
Close relative of the green frog, is distinguish by a swollen 'boss' on top of his head. The big, fluid filled sac on the top of this frog’s head is a poison gland, the biggest of any amphibian in Australia. Luckily the foul tasting poison doesn’t affect humans, but it does deter birds from eating the frog.
Found only in the Kimberley region in north-west Western Australia, this frog loves moist environments. Although it’s a tree frog, it is typically found on rocks not trees, and will hide out in caves and crevices. It is also found around humans, especially near water tanks, toilets or shower blocks.
This frog is classified as Least Concern and can be sold as pet if you have a permit !
This picture was taken in Wildlife Sanctuary in Darling Harbour.

Excellent capture and details of this beautiful tree frog Miroslava! We get tree frogs here. I hear them all the time but are hard to see as they are nocturnal. l/f/t/p/G+
