Description
Looking the other way at Penguin Head lookout you can see the Tilbury Cove Reserve and even Wollumboola lake in the distance( towards the middle).
Tilbury Cove (NSW) is a curving 460m long, north-facing beach, located between protruding rocks that separate it from Culburra Beach and the lee of 1.5m high Penguin Head I am standing on. On the other side (left in the picture) is Warrain beach. The sheltered beach usually receives low waves and has a continuous low tide terrace and is patrolled during the summer school holidays.
Underneath the lookout you can see rocks with little pools of water course by high tight. Also I read that bubble-shaped rocks formed I presume by an underground volcanic activity millions years ago. The gas bubbles over time have been brought to the surface and now form interesting shapes and micro-environments for many animals and algae. So next time I go there have to find one.
