This is a shape of cheetah cub from Dubbo Zoo. Cheetah is one of the most amazing animals in the world. The other pictures will tell you why. But now, as humanity carves up the cat's native habitat in Africa, the survival of the cheetah is at stake. So for decades, researchers at zoos and cheetah breeding centers have been trying to boost the cheetah population. Scientists' limited understanding of cheetah biology has made this task extremely difficult, so Dubbo Zoo's success is something to be proud of. Cheetahs once ranged across the entire African continent, except for the Congo Basin, and into Asia from the Arabian Peninsula to eastern India. Today, cheetahs are found in only 23% of their historic African range and are extinct in their Asian range except for a small population in Iran of about 100 individuals. Habitat lost, illegal poaching and human conflict all contributing to their super rapid decline.
