Description
"1947 MG TC Midget Roadster Convertible" by Catherine Sherman.
A yellow 1947 MG TC Midget roadster convertible automobile leads other vintage MG automobiles in the Texas Rose Festival parade in October 2015. The TC Midget was the first postwar MG, launched in 1945.
It was exported to the United States, even though only ever built in right-hand drive. You can see the driver here is sitting on the "wrong" side of the car for American roads. The export version had slightly smaller US specification sealed-beam headlights and larger twin rear lights, as well as turn signals and chrome-plated front and rear bumpers.
MG is a British automotive marque registered by the defunct MG Car Company Limited, a British sports car manufacturer begun in the 1920s as a sales promotion sideline within W R Morris's Oxford city retail sales and service business by the business's manager, Cecil Kimber. Best known for its two-seat open sports cars, MG also produced saloons and coupes. Kimber was an employee of William Morris; MG are the initials for Morris Garages.
