Still at West head lookout , north of Sydney, Australia, where I grab a picture of bit of Australian ferny bush with little butterfly who blends in like a flower.
The pretty butterfly looks like Monarch butterfly. They are not Australian natives, but arrived in Australia from North America as recently as 1871. Once its host plant, the Milkweed of the genus Asclepias, arrived as well, the butterflies began to flourish. In summer, for just 6 weeks, the Monarch butterfly lives its short, busy life.
True fern is a member of a group of vascular plants (plants with xylem and phloem) that reproduce via spores and have neither seeds nor flowers.
Ferns are not of major economic importance, but some are used for food, medicine, as biofertilizer, as ornamental plants and for remediating contaminated soil. They have been the subject of research for their ability to remove some chemical pollutants from the atmosphere.
