This print is beautiful. It's a commonly depicted subject, but it is very special. The composition, tonal quality, and movement are exceptional and evocative. The piece is true to it's title... breathtaking!

I have wanted this for my pro life bulletin board at my Catholic Church and I wasn’t disappointed. It is beautiful and it has so much meaning put in a picture. A picture speaks better then words and this picture says it all. Thanks

Artist's Description

Colorized photo from 1930
Original Title: Train
Location: Unknown

The steam locomotive was a device that made America great, they pulled things and made industry grow fast. However due to their complexity, often broke down. On a normal schedule these trains would go into a round house and be repaired or rebuilt.

However you don't always have the convenience of a large shed to store and fix it. Sometimes you had to do it right there between stops. This team is doing just that. Using large tools and working in a team, they are replacing parts and doing some general maintenance.

This train is a K4s, made in around 1923 or so, by the Juniata shops in Altoona, PA. Quite a few of these trains were made, however they were quickly replaced by more efficient trains, as these had a hard time pulling the cargo. Today there are only 2 of these that survived. The rest were scrapped. Both are being restored in museums.

About Mike Savad

Mike Savad

My name is Mike Savad, I create one of a kind images. Photo realistic, is what people think of first. I specialize in job themes, such as Pharmacist, Doctor, Firemen, Lawyer, etc. Steampunk is another favorite. I'm certain you will find something that you will like. My art is inspired by Norman Rockwell and Paintings from the time of the Renaissance. Be sure to visit my Scene in Color section. I expertly restore and colorize black and white images. See the past come alive with color. Each image is painstakingly cleaned and repaired, colors are researched and shaded in. Images are designed to coordinate with the rest of my collection. The past was far more colorful than you would have imagined. Want something fun to do? Sometimes I hide...
