Description
Floury baker on my fly screen in Northern beaches of Sydney. At some angle you can see the beautiful pattern of the wing which I included in the picture (right).
The song of the male Floury Baker is a distinctive hiss that can be heard at any time of the day. It starts with short one-second hisses and speeds up into a long continuous hiss that, on warm evenings, can last for up to 20 minutes.
The Floury Baker is found in eastern Australia, it has adapted to a wide variety of habitats, including urban areas. It is common in Sydney suburbs and even in the city centre on the branches of native shrubs and trees.
